Desexing

King Street Veterinary Hospital encourages desexing of our domestic pets in order to avoid overpopulation, unwanted litters, undesirable behaviour and unnecessary euthanasia. Desexing females reduces the risks of mammary cancer, ovarian cancer and pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus. Desexing males reduces the risks of benign prostatic hyperplasia and cancer. If you have any questions about desexing your pet, please do not hesitate to contact our team!

Microchipping

Microchipping is a lifetime form of identification like no other. It is a requirement when registering your animal with our local council. An implant the size of a grain or rice is implanted under the skin, at the level of the shoulder blades. This procedure is quick and can be performed at any time. This microchip is connected to a unique number. Like a fingerprint, this number is connected to a database that will enable us to identify your pet quickly if it goes missing. This way you can be reunited with your beloved friend in no time!
