Desexing

King Street Veterinary Hospital encourages desexing of our domestic pets in order to avoid overpopulation, unwanted litters, undesirable behaviour and unnecessary euthanasia. Desexing females reduces the risks of mammary cancer, ovarian cancer and pyometra, a life-threatening infection of the uterus. Desexing males reduces the risks of benign prostatic hyperplasia and cancer. Our standard of care ensures your pet has a procedure as pain free as possible. Performing an ovariohysterectomy is a complicated procedure and can be extremely painful if the patient is not provided with various forms of pain relief. If your pet is anxious prior to surgery we offer a chill protocol which can significantly reduce their anxiety on the morning of their procedure. If you have any questions about desexing your pet, please do not hesitate to contact our team!

Microchipping

Microchipping is a lifetime form of identification like no other. It is a requirement when registering your animal with our local and state council. An implant the size of a grain or rice is implanted under the skin, at the level of the shoulder blades. This procedure is quick and can be performed at any time. This microchip is connected to a unique number. Like a fingerprint, this number is connected to a database that will enable us to identify your pet quickly if it goes missing. Please ensure you update your contact details when they change as without the correct details, if your pet goes missing then the party holding your pet cannot contact you. This way you can be reunited with your beloved friend in no time!
