Dr. Susan Jacobi

Ophthalmology consultant

Dr.med.vet DVM MS DACVO, Specialist Veterinary Ophthalmologist.

Dr. Susan Jacobi received her veterinary degree from the Free University of Berlin, Germany in 2001. She finished her doctoral thesis “Computerised Tomography on Canine Hips” in 2002, earning her the Dr.med.vet degree Magna Cum Laude.

After working two years in an ophthalmology speciality clinic in Berlin, she completed a four year residency in comparative ophthalmology at Michigan State University in the US, where she also received her Master’s degree, which focused on ocular feline herpes virus infection, in 2008. The same year she also passed her board examinations and became a Diplomate of the American college of Veterinary Ophthalmologists (DACVO).

From 2008 to 2011, Susan worked in a multi-specialised referral centre in Seattle, Washington area, and from 2011 to 2013, she worked in an ophthalmology clinic in the San Francisco Bay area in California. From 2014 to July 2021, Susan has worked in a multi-specialised referral clinic at the Goald Coast, providing ophthalmology services to patients from South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
Susan has been an author and co-author of several scientific ophthalmology articles. Her special interests include neuro-ophthalmology, ocular manifestations of systemic disease, and a wide variety of ocular surgeries.

In her free time, Susan enjoys outdoor based activities with her family and friends, such as hiking. She loves gardening and growing healthy food for her family. The three donkeys Buddy, Mate and Dude and countless chickens keep her busy while not at work with her patients.

Susan is excited to join the team at King Street Veterinary Hospital to provide exclusively ophthalmology care.
