Dr Africa Sanchez Vasquez
Hello, my name is Africa. Yes, like the continent 🙂
I was born and raised in the Canary Islands (Spain), that’s why l have always felt a great connection with the sea and nature.
My passion for animals starts since I was very little, almost since I was born. My parents say that I used to save even the wasps that stung me, hiding them from them and enduring the pain of the sting so they wouldn’t kill them. I don’t know if I would be able to do it now haha.
My father has always felt a great love for them, so any animal I wanted to rescue was welcomed at my home, although sometimes my house could become a zoo and my father was a little desperate, all for a good cause.
I never had any doubts about becoming a veterinarian. And so it was! I graduated from the Alfonso x el Sabio University in Madrid in 2022. And since then I have pursued my dream of being able to practice as a doctor in Australia.
These two years have been of much study, sacrifice and perseverance to be able to pass the validation exams in Australia. Today I am very fortunate to be able to learn from all my colleagues and be accompanied by my great team at king street veterinary hospital, where it feels like home and each and every one of us treat each animal that comes through the door of the hospital as if it were our pet.
I have a great interest in small animal surgery and neurology. If you don’t see me in the hospital you’ll probably see me surfing, doing yoga or camping. Yes to any peaceful plan that allows me to connect with myself and others.
Hope to see you soon and meet your four-legged friends
